I’m running into a major bottleneck around how I handle lyric and quote content. While I’ve built out full CPTs for individual lyrics and book quotes, the truth is that not every excerpt needs to be a CPT. Many are too long, too one-off, or unlikely to be reused.
I’ve considered building an excerpt system—a looser structure that allows me to pull text from songs, books, movies, or games without requiring a full CPT. This could help me maintain creative flow and avoid excessive structuring for every quote I want to use.
That said, I still prefer having everything in CPTs for the sake of organization, deep linking, and integration with my updated index system (themes, references, rappers, etc.). So perhaps there’s a middle ground:
- Use CPTs for frequently referenced or high-impact excerpts
- Store minor excerpts in reusable or themed “special pages”
- Create a temporary holding area or pool for quotes pending classification
On top of that, I need to prioritize fixing the current SEO metadata and Yoast excerpts, which were ignored during bulk content generation. Cleaning that up may also improve visibility for individual quote and lyric pages.
